Do you remember the post about vegan leather
(that many of you had wise thoughts about, mostly on Facebook and Instagram)? Remember that I promised to tell you about sustainable materials that are neither leather nor plastic? And do you also remember that I said that this post would appear last week? Hopefully, your answer is yes, yes, no, because here it is today. I give you: 7 sustainable materials instead of leather (that's not plastic!)
Chocking, huh? But it can actually be rather strong - and fashionably luxurious. Check out Bottega Veneta's paper bag made of washi paper, a product from the Kozo tree.
...and of course, let's not forget the Balenciaga bag (after the IKEA bam this is just the natural next steg right?). Ok, I mean, this one is in 100% calfskin but just buy something nice that you like and you'll get the paper bag. Done!
Said it before and I'll say it again: corc! Used by both Chanel and Louboutin. More corc to the people!
3. Recycled rubber/tire
4. Waxed cotton
Used by Marc Jacobs and Barbour for example (have you felt their jackets? If no, do so!). Ecoluxury.
Sort of like cork, but from other trees. Used by D&G at the catwalk some seasons ago.
How cool is it that you can make leather of pineapple leaves?
Sounds like something from a cow maybe? (Muuuu) But Mu is for Mushroom. New innovations coming for us!
Did you know about these materials before or was there something new for you here? Which one would you go for?
Modern women don't choose between sustainability and luxury, we take them both
